Middle School Spanish Philosophy
In our ever increasing multicultural community and world, students need to develop a broader understanding and appreciation of others. Through the study of the Spanish language and culture, SCCS provides a program for students in eighth grade that is equivalent to the first level of high school Spanish. 

My goals for each Middle School graduate are to:

1. express himself or herself meaningfully using both written and verbal language.
2. develop skills necessary for beginning conversational Spanish.
3. understand and apply rules of grammar to the Spanish language.
4. develop a greater understanding of the English language.
5. become aware of the culture and geography of the Spanish-speaking countries.

In the Spanish program, the overall goal is for the students to excel in the language and continue at the second level of Spanish in their ninth grade year. 

Imbedded Subjects: English – grammar

Frequency of class: Everyday, approximately 45 minutes

Textbook(s): Paso a Paso I; Ven Conmigo

Methods of Assessment: chapter tests – written and oral, chapter quizzes, daily homework, daily classroom conversation question/answer activities, and individual/group projects
