St. Croix Catholic School Students Will
Celebrate Service During the Annual Marathon for Non-Public Education

This fall, students in Catholic schools across the country are taking part in the Marathon for Non-Public Education. Students collect pledges from family, friends, and community members to support their school and in return the students commit to completing an activity such as walking, running, or performing a service. SCCS students are collecting donations throughout the month of September and will be participating in a “Service Marathon Week” from October 11th through the 14th. Our school goal is to raise $75,000 which will go towards the school’s annual operating budget. The SCCS Home and School parent group is organizing the event.

The service activity being planned by the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students is to perform a program of musical entertainment for the residents at Linden Healthcare Center in Stillwater. Ms. Rebecca Kaup, our music teacher, is working with the students to choose and practice songs. Along with parent volunteers and teachers, the students will walk to Linden on October 11th to visit and sing to the many friends they have made there in recent years and hopefully to make some new friends as well!

On Wednesday, October 13th the students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at SCCS will go to St. Michael’s Cemetery in Bayport to do fall landscape clean-up and gravesite maintenance. Father Randal Kasel will be there to welcome the students and give them directions for the work they will be doing.

The Middle School students in grades 6, 7 and 8 will travel to the Feed My Starving Children center in Eagan on Tuesday, October 12th or Thursday, October 14th to help prepare meal packages for children in third world countries. They have been preparing for the trip by learning more about the countries and children who may receive these meals and about the great impact the work of Feed My Starving Children has on so many lives.
