How can you and your child raise some extra funds
towards your $250 Marathon goal?

Here are some ideas some of our families are trying:

• Write a letter to family members and friends who live out of town. Include a picture and talk about what you are doing in school and the great service projects your class is working on for the Marathon. Be sure to include information about making a donation online by going to the SCCS web site.
• Send a letter to friends and neighbors telling them about the act of service you are planning to do in exchange for their pledge. Here is a great example from an SCCS student.
  
• Have a Garage Sale. Kids can donate and price their own outgrown or unneeded clothing, toys, books, sports equipment, etc. 
• Have a Lemonade Stand on one of these warm summer or fall days. 

 

 

• Fall jobs, such as raking leaves, babysitting after school, running errands for next-door moms.
• Do own mini service marathon, such as clean up neighborhood, and ask for donations in honor of the children's work.
• Moms can host an at-home party (such as Tupperware or Pampered Chef) and ask the consultant to donate portion of proceeds to the Marathon.
• A group of students could organize a neighborhood car wash.
• Create a flyer to pass around to neighbors or send to family members. This flyer by the Kiolbasa family has been very successful for several years. They follow up any contribution recieved with a thank-you note and 1/2 dozen cookies.
