Turner. Intermediate students can peruse You Wouldn't Want to be a Pirate's Prisoner by John Malam, A Bear Named Trouble by Marion Dane Bauer, Flush by Carl Hiaasen, or Whales on Stilts by M.T. Anderson. Some titles that middle school students may check out are Framed by Frank Cottrell Boyce, Bushnell's Submarine by Arthur S. Lefkowitz, Miracle on 49th Street by Mile Lupica, and Crispin: At the Edge of the World by Avi.Topics studied these first weeks of school also include learning and practicing "library etiquette" and book care, the arrangement of our library's book collection, and the elements of a story (plot, characters, and setting).
