You Can Give In a Variety of Ways

Contributions to the SCCS Endowment Fund can come in many ways from parishioners, friends, and groups/organizations who appreciate the value of Catholic elementary education.   With each gift to the SCCS Endowment Fund you:

  • Realize a tax deduction for your charitable gift (this could be significant).
  • Tangibly support Catholic education in the St. Croix Valley for future generations.
  • Have the option of making a lasting, perpetual tribute to a loved one, or perhaps to a teacher or pastor that was or still is especially important in your life.

Below is a brief description of the different ways you can give to the SCCS Endowment Fund.  More information is provided in the Many Ways to Give insert included with this brochure. Be sure to check with your financial advisor(s) for more complete information.

Cash Gifts

Cash gifts, in the form of cash or check contributions, qualify as tax deductions in the year paid.  If you work for a sizeable company, there is a good chance that your company has a Matching Gift Program.  In most cases, companies will not match dollars donated to churches, but will match dollars donated to schools.  To find out if your company has a Matching Gift Program, contact your Community Giving Department or Human Resources Department or take a look at this 2008 List of Companies with Matching Gift Programs.
(page 1 or page 2) Completing one single form can double or even triple your contribution.

Gifts of Appreciated Property

Gifts of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate or other capital assets that have been held for more than one year can offer you substantial tax benefits. Such gifts are deductible at their full market value and no capital gains tax is paid on the property¹s appreciation. Because you must follow a set process to ensure your tax deductibility remains intact, please check with your financial advisor for more information. Please call the school office for more information on how to make a gift of appreciated property to SCCS.

Planned or "Deferred" Gifts

Consider including the SCCS Endowment in your planned giving.  This type of giving can include, bequests, life insurance, charitable gift annuities and remainder trusts.

Support Catholic Education Beyond Your Lifetime

You can name the SCCS Endowment Fund in your will as the recipient of a portion of your estate.  Through the SCCS Endowment Fund, your gift lives on in perpetuity.  The SCCS Endowment Fund  also be designated for funeral memorials.
